Google will end support for Chrome OS Apps by February 1, 2023. And in preparation, Zoom will end support for the Zoom Chrome OS App in August 2022.
If you are using the Zoom Chrome OS app, you will need to switch to the Zoom Progressive Web Application (PWA) by August 1, 2022, to prepare for this academic year.
Key dates to be aware of:
- Aug 1, 2022 – Migrate to the Zoom Progressive Web Application (PWA)
- Nov 5, 2022 – The Zoom app will no longer be searchable in the Chrome Web Store.
- Feb 1, 2023 -The Chrome OS App will be entirely removed and no longer available.
Users can install the Zoom PWA from the Google Play store (search ‘Zoom for Chrome PWA’ in the Play store) or by going to pwa.zoom.us/wc and clicking on the ‘install’ icon in the Chrome browser address bar.
We strongly recommend that all users update to the most recent version of Chrome OS to maintain feature compatibility and continued improved performance.
