Starting the afternoon of Friday, August 16, 2019 all email sent to UNTHSC email addresses from senders external to the organization will have the subject prepended with the tag [EXT] to denote that the message originated externally. This tagging will give our customers another layer of information to determine the veracity or legitimacy of requests sent through e-mail. For instance, users can easily identify a problem and increase their skepticism when a message purports to be from a Dean or executive, but has the [EXT] tag at the front of the subject line. Users should also be more vigilant with attachments or links from external senders as well as senders asking for financial or username/credential information. Any questions about this tagging can be sent to the Information Security Office at informationsecurity@unthsc.edu
