UNTHSC scientist Brian Molles, PhD, passes away

Brian Molles, PhD, an HIV researcher and dedicated mentor to UNT Health Science Center graduate students, died on July 20. He was 50 years old.

Dr. Molles worked at UNTHSC for nearly two years, beginning in October 2016. He was a postdoctoral research associate working in the lab of Anuja Ghorpade, PhD, Vice President of Research.

Dr. Molles was a dedicated mentor to UNTHSC students and was a trusted employee and scientist who took a leading role in Dr. Ghorpade’s lab.

“He was really committed to education and did so much to help our students,” she said. “His biggest interest was getting opportunities to mentor students. That was something he was really passionate about.”

Dr. Molles is survived by his wife, Crystal; daughter, Brianne; sons Jordan and Davis; his sister Laura; and parents Stan and Helen.
