Parking Permit renewal system to restart at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4 (See different procedures for Premium Parking)

The Parking Office sent this email to all team members on Aug. 28, 2019:

Team,

After making improvements to our parking permit system, the site is being extensively tested. It will reopen at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. See the parking map.

Please note there are different procedures for purchasing General parking permits and Premium parking permits.

Please see FY 19-20 permit types and rates here:  https://www.unthsc.edu/police/wp-content/uploads/sites/25/FY-20-24-Parking-Rates.pdf

Here are some key facts to keep in mind:

General Parking Permits (excluding Premium parking in Garage 4 and Lot 6):

  • There is no cap on the sale of general permits, therefore the quantities are unlimited.
  • You will simply click on “Get Permits” to purchase or renew your permit before signing in. The parking permit renewal site will be open indefinitely, but the deadline to renew or buy is Sept. 18. After that date, the Police Department will begin enforcement for expired permits.

Premium Parking Permits (for Garage 4 or Lot 6 only):

  • Sale of permits is capped for premium parking. Only one permit for every space in Garage 4 will be sold. Lot 6 will be oversold by approximately 15 spaces.
  • To ensure all premium permits are reserved in first-come, first-served order, those who wish to purchase premium parking must first sign up on a waitlist, located at the bottom of the screen. Just click on “Add/Edit waitlist” before signing in. Those who sign up on the waitlist will receive an email later in the day advising them when they may go online and purchase their permit. If Garage 4 and/or Lot 6 sell out, they will receive an email instructing them to purchase a regular permit.
  • In response to your feedback, we have decided to open the permit system at 5 a.m. for the convenience of those who may have early meetings, need to drop off schoolchildren or have other business-hours obligations.
  • You will have until Sept. 18 to renew your permit. After that date, the Police Department will begin enforcement for expired permits. (There will be a two-week grace period to renew/purchase permits ending Sept. 18).

Further directions with screenshots will be emailed to you on Sept. 3 for your reference.

We greatly appreciate your patience.
