Individuals with diabetes are needed for a research study

The Department of Physical Therapy is recruiting men and women with diabetes for a study entitled “Variability of Triaxial Plantar Loading in Diabetic Patients”.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of activity on changes in walking patterns, foot temperatures and the development of diabetic ulcers. We are currently looking for diabetic individuals, with and without neuropathy, able to walk 30 minutes without assistance, free of foot pain and active ulcers. Participation involves walking on a treadmill for 20 minutes and other walking activities. The study will be in two sessions, totaling about 2 to 3 hours in the lab, with 1.5 to 5 hours in between. Participants will be free to leave the lab between sessions and will be asked to walk a predetermined amount during this time. Travel costs and time commitment will be compensated. If you are interested please contact our lab at 817-735-0513 or email yavuzlab@unthsc.edu.
