HSC Presidential Search update

(as emailed from the HSC News Office on Aug. 12)

Dear HSC Faculty, Staff and Students,

As representatives of the students, staff and faculty serving on the HSC President Search Committee, we are thrilled to share that the search has successfully entered its final phase.

After several interviews with extraordinary candidates from across the country, the committee had the arduous task of narrowing the candidates to a select few for the UNT System Board of Regents to interview, and ultimately select a sole finalist.

The extraordinary work, reputation and current vision of HSC attracted top-tier candidates. The Executive Search Firm was highly organized and its time and dedication to the recruitment and search was exceptional and unmatched.

The search committee co-chairs created an atmosphere of inclusion for all committee members. Everyone was invested in understanding the dynamics of an academic Health Science Center and the leadership qualities required for continued advancement of “our” HSC and the impact on “our” community. The team valued each other’s input and perspective. Healthy debates and tireless deliberations resulted in a successful outcome for the search committee by our recommending of semifinalists to the Board of Regents.

The Board of Regents assumes the responsibility of selecting the finalist and is slated to meet Monday at a specially called meeting to announce a sole finalist. We will ensure that the HSC campus is notified of the selection and look forward to welcoming the sole finalist.

We are grateful for the support of fellow search committee members, as well as the entire HSC campus community. Along the way, you provided critical information and feedback to ensure our future leader embodies and represents HSC’s values and aligns with our collective vision, mission and purpose.

Thank you for your trust and collaboration throughout this process. It was an honor to represent all the incredible people who call HSC home.

Thank you,
