HSC President Search – stakeholder listening sessions

As part of The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth’s search for a new president, a diverse, representative search committee has been created to lead the search and narrow the field of candidates.

A critical element of the process will begin this week as the committee — along with a consulting firm — is set to undergo a comprehensive campuswide listening phase of the search. The goal of these events is to engage and solicit input from key stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, volunteers and community members, on the qualities they want in a future leader.

The 45-minute listening sessions will be conducted in phases to maximize each stakeholder’s opportunity to contribute. If you haven’t already, you’ll receive a calendar invite with the link for your session at the following dates and times:

Thursday, May 12

  • HSC faculty: 10-10:45 a.m.
  • HSC staff: 11-11:45 a.m.
  • HSC students: 3-3:45 p.m.

Friday, May 13

  • HSC alumni and community partners: 10-10:45 a.m.

The committee members will use the information they gather at these sessions and from the survey to help shape the parameters for the search and contribute significantly to the final decisions.

Before coming to the listening sessions, please consider your answers to the following questions:

1. Based on your experience with HSC, what have you identified as the immediate and long-term challenges and opportunities facing the new president?

2. Given the opportunities and challenges you have described, what professional experiences and qualifications should the successful candidate possess?

3. What personal qualities should the new president have in order to be a strong cultural “fit” within the HSC community and the greater Fort Worth community?

4. What are the key positive attributes and most attractive features of HSC and the surrounding community, and how might those be used to attract the best candidates?
