Healthy volunteers (ages 55-80) needed for heat and blood flow study.

The University of North Texas Health Science Center and the Human Vascular Physiology Laboratory are recruiting up to 72 subjects (male and female) to take part in a study that will determine whether home-based leg heat therapy will improve functional capacity, blood vessel function, and muscle blood flow in older adults.

You must be:
• 55-80 years old
• Generally healthy
• Have not used tobacco/nicotine in the last 6 months (cigarettes, e-cigarettes, chewing tobacco, nicotine patch/gum)

Study Requirements:
• Visit Human Vascular Physiology Laboratory at UNTHSC on 9 separate days; the first will be 1-2 hours, six of the visits will be approximately 6 hours, the remaining two visits will be less than 30 minutes.
• Participation in this study also involves 8 weeks of home-based leg heating using a pants heating system that will be provided to you. Each session will be 1 hour long, and 4 sessions per week are required.
• Participation in this study is voluntary, and if you are a student or employee of UNTHSC your participation (or non-participation) in this study will in no way affect your academic standing or employment.

Subjects will be compensated for their time and effort.

If you are interested in participating in this study as a research subject, please contact Heidi Cope via email (HeidiCope@my.unthsc.edu) or phone (817-735-2088).
