Established in 1993, our Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences has evolved significantly over the past 29 years to become a highly regarded college offering traditional doctorate and master’s degrees in eight disciplines, three specialized master’s degrees, as well as a professional certificate in biomedical entrepreneurship.

Under the leadership of Dean Michael J. Mathis over the past three years, the college has experienced significant enrollment growth from the successful launch of a completely online version of our popular Master’s in Medical Science (MedSci) program.

Always looking to the future, we continue to identify ways to enhance our existing programs as well as pursue new opportunities to meet the ever-evolving needs of the workforce. We shared at the end of last year that we are launching our first-ever undergraduate degree completion program this fall, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences.

With the addition of a new bachelor’s degree, it is important our name accurately represents the depth and breadth of all our educational programs within the school. Therefore, as recommended and approved by faculty and leadership, I’m pleased to share our new name for HSC’s School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS).

I want to thank Dean Mathis as well as the SBS faculty and staff for their ongoing support and all the great work done thus far to bring this vision to fruition. I am excited about the future of HSC as we continue to foster our values-based culture and remain committed to our mission of creating solutions for a healthier community.
