Chancellor Update

To HSC Faculty and Staff
From the HSC Office of the President
November 12, 2021

HSC Family,

As many of you have likely heard, on Monday I was announced as the sole finalist for the Chancellor position for the University of North Texas System. I am grateful for the support of the Board of Regents, and many of you who have already reached out to congratulate me, and I am excited for the opportunity to lead three world-class universities forward.

During November, I will be starting the transition to the System. I have asked Greg Anderson, Juan Serrano, David Mansdoerfer, Laken Rapier and Noah Drew to assist me in this effort – in addition to their work at the Health Science Center.

Upon officially taking the position, I will hold both roles of Chancellor and HSC President while we undergo a search for the next President of HSC. In the interim, I have asked Dr. Trent-Adams, HSC Chief Strategy Officer, Dr. Taylor, HSC Provost, and Dr. Gladue, HSC VP of Research, to take on additional responsibility as I take on both roles.

While change is never easy, I have high expectations that HSC will continue its upward trajectory in community engagement, research and academics as has been demonstrated during the COVID-19 response.

The potential has never been greater, and the opportunities are endless. I look forward to working with each of you to position HSC, and the entire UNT System, as thought leaders in higher education health care, and propelling meaningful, innovative ideas forward that will shape the future.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael R. Williams
