November 29, 2017 – (DALLAS) University of North Texas System Chancellor Lesa Roe today announced that University of North Texas Chief Financial Officer Bob Brown will serve as Interim Chief Financial Officer for the entire UNT System, effective Dec. 1, 2017. Brown will temporarily fill the UNT System’s CFO position – which currently includes overseeing centralized finance, information technology and human resources services for UNT, UNT Health Science Center and UNT Dallas – while a national search is conducted for the full-time position.

Brown will replace Janet Waldron, who is retiring from the UNT System in early January 2018. Waldron, who came to Texas from the University of Maine System in 2015, led the UNT System through a period of unprecedented financial change after serving as the University of Maine’s and the State of Maine’s lead financial official.

“Bob Brown is a respected leader and a dedicated UNT alum – we are confident in his ability to lead our financial system,” Roe said. “Bob will have full authority of our financial system during this interim period as we move forward with our search to locate the very best long-term CFO. Janet Waldron will work with Bob to help us make a smooth transition and we appreciate her service to the UNT System.”

Brown has served as UNT’s Vice President for Finance and Administration since May 2014, leading the UNT System flagship university’s budget, finance and administrative operations. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is responsible for ensuring that UNT is a good steward of Texas taxpayers’ dollars. Prior to his arrival at UNT, Brown served as Vice President for Business and Administration at Texas A&M-Commerce for eight years and previously worked as Vice Chancellor of Business Affairs for the Dallas County Community College District and Vice Chancellor of Business for North Harris Montgomery Community College District.
