Roda is coordinating the Health Science Center Scholars in Cancer Research Program that includes the activities involving faculty, undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral Fellows. She is participating in this program since its recent inception and coordinating in such a nice way that we had all appreciation from all participants without any complaints. One of the major goals of this program is to promote diversity and training highly talented individuals. Finding suitable candidates is becoming challenging for some of the programs. Roda worked with the other team members and our partnering with the institutions around the country to recruit the candidates. With all these efforts we were able to find excellent participants. For example, we were looking for a qualified Post-doc to join this program after searching for a suitable candidate for some time, and we were about to lose him due to some uncertainty. Roda stepped in to make the things easy and workable and finally the candidate accepted and joined with us. Even though she is relatively new to HSC moving from California, she has been working with the other team members in collaboration and established contacts with our partners and standing as an inspiration for others in collaboration. Therefore, I strongly recommend her for the recognition.
