Residency & Fellowship Programs

Prospective Residents-Family Medicine Residency Opportunity
The dually-accredited UNTHSC/TCOM/Medical City Fort Worth & OMT Residency Program is committed to meeting the healthcare needs of patients in our country with particular emphasis to those residing in Texas. Part of this promise is focused on providing care to those that are under-insured or uninsured. Approximately 45% of Texas residents are uninsured or have Medicaid benefits. Complicating this further is the shortage of primary care physicians in our State. Texas ranks 48th out of 50 states in active primary care physicians per 100,000/population. Many, if not most of the counties in Texas have health professional shortage areas (HPSA) or medically underserved areas (MUA) within them.
Recently, our residency program, through the Medicaid 1115 Waiver initiative, was able to increase its funded residency positions. With the goal of increasing the primary care workforce with physicians who plan to serve the underinsured, particularly Medicaid populations, or practice in health professional shortage areas (HPSA) or medically underserved areas (MUA); the Medicaid 1115 Waiver Program has afforded our residency training program with a
great opportunity for populating our physician workforce
If you are a candidate interested in providing healthcare to those who are under-insured or uninsured, the UNTHSC/TCOM/Medical City Fort Worth Family Medicine Residency Program may be the place for you.
