B.S. Music Education, Wayne State College

M.M. Music Education, Northwestern State University of Louisiana

Meghan Taylor is a clarinetist, event coordinator, and researcher based in Denton, Texas. During her clarinet studies with Malena McLaren and Karl Kolbeck, Meghan performed in masterclasses featuring Kimberly Cole Luevano, Frank Kowalsky, Stephanie Zelnick, and Michael Scheuerman. In addition to these performances, Meghan participated in the Nebraska Intercollegiate Band (2014, 2015) and the Louisiana Intercollegiate Band (2017).

Taking an active role in the music business industry has enabled Meghan to broaden the scope of her education by gaining experience in marketing, sales, and podcasting. Meghan presently serves as the Copy Editor for Clarineat (clarineat.com), a podcast and blog devoted to the clarinet, and as a Clarinet Consultant for Lisa’s Clarinet Shop (clarinetconsultant.com).

In January 2018, Meghan had the distinction of serving as an intern for the College Music Society during the GenNext Program at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. Meghan also operated as the Assistant Event Coordinator for the 2018 Louisiana Clarinet Symposium held in Natchitoches, LA.

As a student at the University of North Texas and in association with The Texas Center for Performing Arts Health, Meghan hopes to synthesize her skills as a musician and event coordinator to promote health and wellness in the College of Music. As a founding member of Students for Performing Arts Health (SPAH), Meghan hopes to coordinate monthly events to disseminate health-promoting information to UNT Music Students. Meghan’s primary areas of research-interest are health promotion curriculum development in higher education, the musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal health of clarinetists, the impacts of the studio teacher on the student, and music performance anxiety.
