Jason Powell

Ph.D. (Computer Science and Engineering)

Jason Powell is currently an assistant professor of computer information systems at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA.  Jason graduate with a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas.  While at UNT, he studied databases, data mining, and human-computer interaction (HCI) while serving as a teaching fellow in the Computer Science and Engineering department.

Jason used his passion for data analysis and HCI to develop a multidisciplinary project with the Texas Center for Performing Arts and Health that resulted in the dissertation, “Predictive Modeling for Persuasive Ambient Technology.” This research involved investigating how HCI could reduce the risk of noised-induced hearing loss risk with continuous monitoring of sound levels and real-time visualizations to disseminate information during lab band sessions.  Dr.  Powell’s research has presented his research at conferences of the Performing Arts Medicine Association.
