Message from the Chair

Our mission:Priya Bui Pediatric Doctor For Unthsc.

The mission of the Department of Pediatrics and Women’s Health is to continuously improve the quality and value of our education, pediatric health care, research, and community service programs. We are dedicated to educating doctors and physician assistants and providing the North Texas Community quality pediatric medical care and community health services.

Our vision:

To become the Pediatrics and Women’s Health academic choice for Tarrant County.

The UNT Health Science Center is committed to achieving excellence in our programs of education, patient care service, and research. The Department of Pediatrics and Women’s Health supports and enhances the mission of the institution by providing and maintaining the highest quality of education, instruction, and patient care delivery. The department is proud of our dedicated faculty and staff who continuously work to improve the quality and delivery of medical education and pediatrics patient care services in our community.

The educational responsibilities of the Pediatrics and Women’s Health Department include providing a pediatric perspective to the education of TCOM first and second year osteopathic (DO) students, Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology Clerkship programs for third year students, fourth year elective rotations at Cook Children’s Health Care Specialty Clinics, John Peter Smith Hospital and Plaza Family Medicine Residency rotations.

Our clinical services are provided to patients from birth to 16 years of age. The clinic is located at the campus Health Pavilion. Our clinic is staffed with both doctors and physician assistants who see over 29,000 patients yearly for problems ranging from preventive care visits to asthma.

Our clinical trials program studies are primarily focused on vaccine development in concert with pharmaceutical and biotechnical companies to evaluate new vaccines. The goal is to test a vaccines therapy and its safety and efficacy on human clinical trial subjects before gaining FDA approval.

Our goals are focused on:

  • The health of our patients.
  • The quality of our pediatric medical education.
  • Our contributions to collaborative and investigator-initiated pediatric research.
  • Our engagement with key community agencies, services, and resources.
  • The assessment of our students, patients and their families about the quality, and value of our services.
