15th Annual Texas Conference on Health Disparities

Texas Conference On Health Disparities

Going Virtual

In our ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of our campus as well as our community, we are cancelling all in-person events related to the 15th Annual Conference.

The TCHD leadership intends to conduct the conference in a virtual platform. The virtual conference will be held on June 11-12, 2020.

Women's Health

Conference Overview

The overall theme for the conference is “Women’s Health Disparities”.  Significant disparities occur in various racial/ethnic groups that impact women’s health, including breast and cervical cancer, poor pregnancy outcomes, metabolic health and mental health. This virtual conference will provide evidence-based approaches that identify mechanisms (biological, social, environmental, policy) which affect health in racial/ethnic minority and health disparity populations.  This conference will feature nationally recognized speakers, UNTHSC faculty conducting health disparity research and outreach, community leaders, and interactive debates highlighting the advances in the field of minority health and progress on eliminating health disparities. Educational and interactive presentations, panel discussions and questions/answer sessions will identify the challenges and assist attendees in defining and developing a prospectus for the future. The conference will also highlight the ongoing research programs and efforts including community engagement programs that are aimed to understand the underlying causes of such disparities and devising innovative strategies to ultimately eliminate them.
