Callie is from Grapevine, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University in 2018 (woop!) with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry.  She then worked as a scribe in the emergency department at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas for a year before starting the MedSci program.  She will graduate this spring and then begin medical school in the TCOM program this July.  Callie is passionate about community service and outreach.  She hopes to be able to share her experiences, provide encouragement, and help students fight fear and anxiety with knowledge.  She is also excited to welcome new students to UNTHSC and looks forward to meeting everyone! Onyeomachi is from Houston, Texas and moved to Fort Worth for the Medical Science program. She obtained her Bachelors degree in Nutrition from Howard University in Washington, D.C. During her time in the MedSci program she served as a Curriculum Representative. Her passions include working to alleviate food disparities and providing nutrition and health counseling for underprivileged communities. Ony enjoys working out, attending comic book conventions, and reading science fiction novels. As an Orientation Leader she is looking forward to engaging with new students and sharing her experience at UNTHSC. Alex hails from the great city of Austin, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. Before attending UNTHSC, he worked as a Certified Dermatology Tech as part of Dr. Bryan Townsends’ Mohs Surgery Team, while waiting tables at Matt’s El Rancho and Chuy’s Tex-Mex restaurants. Alex’s hobbies include playing basketball, craft brewing, playing bass guitar, and spending time with his friends. Alex will be attending TCOM next year. As a CAP tutor and fellow classmate, he hopes to promote a collaborative and supportive environment for students in all programs at UNTHSC. He is excited by the opportunity to meet and connect with the new Medical Science students, offer information regarding UNTHSC’s campus and Fort Worth, and serve as a positive and motivational force for students as they embark on the path towards their respective healthcare professions.

Bethany grew up in the (very) small town of Sweeny, Texas, and then relocated to College Station to attend Texas A&M University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychological & Brain Sciences, with double minors in Neuroscience & Sociology. She completed her degree in just 2 years, at the age of 20 years old! Following graduation, she worked in Houston for one year as a Behavioral Therapist, where she provided full-time one-on-one therapy to special needs children. In 2019, she moved to Fort Worth and began her Master of Biomedical Science degree at UNTHSC. She will complete this degree in May 2020, and then begin her medical education at TCOM. Bethany has been accepted into the DO/MPH dual-degree program, which she believes will give her the medical & public health background, perspective, and skills to address the issues that under-served communities face. Additionally, her hobbies include working out at Orange Theory Fitness, listening to Taylor Swift (all the time), watching Grey’s Anatomy, and spending time with her miniature poodle.  Bethany served as an orientation leader during her time at Texas A&M, and she is beyond excited to fill that role again at UNTHSC. She understands the difficulties that come with transitioning into a graduate program, and she hopes to be a mentor that new students can turn to for advice in order to make the transition comfortable! Grant is originally from Flower Mound, Texas and has been a PhD student in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences since 2016. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology from Texas Tech University in 2014. His current research involves constructing and screening a library of small molecules from systematically obtained soil microbes to identify compounds which exhibit anti-cancer activity. He enjoys visiting the National Parks, board games, and spending time with his friends and family. Grant is excited to help promote a smooth transition into graduate studies as well as to engage with incoming students as they begin their journey at UNTHSC. Brittany is from the not so little city of Little Elm, Texas and she received her bachelor degree in biochemistry at the University of North Texas at Denton. While there, she worked at an organization specializing in women’s health during pregnancy and the preconception period and this sparked her interest in public health. Brittany is currently in the MPH program, with a specialization in Maternal and Child Health. Outside of school, Brittany’s hobbies include reading, spending time with her friends and family, and going on food adventures. She enjoys finding opportunities to help others and is looking forward to spreading her infectious positivity to incoming students as an Orientation Leader.

Payton is originally from Montgomery, Texas, and is entering into her 2nd year in the System College of Pharmacy. Prior to attending UNTHSC, she attended The University of Louisiana at Monroe where she received her Bachelor of Science in Toxicology. Payton was also a 4-year Division 1 athlete at The University of Louisiana at Monroe on the track and field team. Her hobbies include running, lifting weights, and reading. Her academic fields of interest include Toxicology, Oncology, and Infectious Disease and she plans to pursue a residency after graduation. She is excited to welcome all of the new students to campus and help them in preparation for their exciting first year. Kelli is from originally from Santa Fe, Texas and is about to enter her second year of the Physical Therapy program. Prior to attending UNTHSC, she obtained a B.S. in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston and a Masters in Kinesiology from TCU in 2014. Her hobbies include running, attending workouts with Camp Gladiator, reading (mostly on school breaks for right now), hanging out with her dog, participating in different forms of physical activity (tennis, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc.), and recently, exploring different parks in the Fort Worth area. She is looking forward to meeting the incoming students and helping them transition to Fort Worth, UNTHSC, and all they have to offer!

I am from Galveston, Texas and I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2018 with a B.S. in Biology, focusing on Human Biology. Afterwards, I worked as a medical scribe in the Emergency Department at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas before starting at UNTHSC PA Program in the fall of 2019. I am currently the Diversity Representative for the Physician Assistant Student Association (PASA) and the PA Representative for UNTHSC Sustainability Committee. Outside of school, I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to meeting the new students and helping each student succeed here at UNTHSC. Savannah is entering her second year in the PA program at UNTHSC. She grew up in The Woodlands, Texas, and obtained a B.S. in Psychology from  Texas A&M University (’15 whoop!). After graduating, she worked as a medical technician and as an operations administrator for a pediatric orthopedic clinic. Currently, she serves as PA Student Association President. She is also a proud wife and a mother of a two-year-old boy as well as an advocate for a cure for type 1 diabetes. Savannah is so excited to welcome the incoming class and hopes to return the helpful insight and advice that she received this time last year.

Summer is from North Richland Hills, Texas and graduated with a BS in Biology and minors in Spanish and Chemistry from the greatest school in the universe, Texas Tech University! During undergrad, she worked as an emergency department scribe and ophthalmology technician, and gave campus tours as a university ambassador. In her downtime from TCOM, Summer loves a good old-fashioned adventure, whether it be roadtripping with friends; camping, kayaking, stargazing, and hammocking; or discovering the tons of cool things to do in DFW. She’s a huge space nerd so she’s ready to help you navigate this new planet that is medical school and ease your anxieties about this new intergalactic voyage! Nicole is from Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2019 (woo pig!) with a Bachelor’s degree in biology. Nicole is currently finishing her first year at TCOM in the class of 2023 and is continuing to pursue her interests in emergency medicine and pediatrics. Outside of school, Nicole enjoys running along the Trinity River, spending time with friends and family, and exploring Fort Worth. She is looking forward to welcoming the new class of 2024 and hopes to provide them with insight and advice for their exciting first year! Melson is a 2nd year TCOM student from San Antonio, TX. He earned his B.S. in Public Health at University of Texas at San Antonio with minors in Biology and Chemistry. In his gap year, he worked as a research technician, an emergency room scribe, and later as an Emergency Medical Technician. He is an avid football fan and loves to stay active; however, also enjoys binging Netflix shows and enjoying a “lazy day”. Melson is an active member in the student body with multiple leadership positions. His main goal is to represent his peers by fostering relationships with faculty and address concerns that arise. He has been a peer mentor in undergraduate and in medical school and eager to help and support everyone that comes to TCOM!

Tai is a part of TCOM 2023. She was born and raised in the small town of Las Cruces, New Mexico. She graduated from Baylor University in 2018 with a major in Biology. She worked as a full-time scribe in the ER during her gap year and also became a registered yoga instructor.  Her hobbies include teaching yoga classes at the UNTHSC fitness center and taking her dog on walks. She is excited to get to know students as a CAP tutor and a representative for Beyer College!

Kendrick Lim is from Sugar Land, Texas and is entering his second year at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He graduated from Texas A&M University (WHOOP!!) in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering and minor in electrical engineering. The following semester, he moved to Fort Worth to start his medical training. Currently, Kendrick is interested in emergency medicine and endeavors to practice medicine at an academic institution where he can educate future medical students as they complete their training. On campus, Kendrick is involved in the Emergency Medicine Interest Group, Student Initiative in Medical Simulation, Pediatrics Club, Latino Medical Student Association, Christian Medical Association, 2023 Class Council, Medical Student Government Association, and Intercollegiate Council. Kendrick is very passionate about community service and volunteers at several healthcare clinics and health education opportunities in the local Fort Worth area. In addition, Kendrick’s hobbies include basketball, football, eating scrumptious food, and traveling. Kendrick served as a mentor and student ambassador while at Texas A&M, and he is excited to carry out that role at the Health Science Center. Kendrick understands the difficulty that can come with transitioning into medical school and is ready to guide students as they embark on the next adventure of their medical training.  He is excited to meet you and hopes to see you very soon! Rabab is from Allen, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2018. She went on to receive her Masters in Medical Sciences at UNTHSC. While at UTD she worked for Kaplan Test Prep as an MCAT instructor, helping students reach their goals. She also worked in a Neuroscience lab for two years, and her experiences there further inspired her interest in medicine. Her hobbies include art, exploring DFW, travel, cooking, and spending time with friends. She hopes to help students realize their potential by using her experience at TCOM to guide the incoming first years. Rabab is excited to meet the incoming first years and welcome them to UNTHSC! She looks forward to helping students with any questions they may have as they transition into medical school.

Gita Thirumalai is from Plano, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2019 with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Public Health and Psychology. She is a dual degree DO/MPH student at UNTHSC. Gita is very involved on campus through different student organizations, such as the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the Student Chapter of the American Geriatrics Society, and the Intercollegiate Council and its committees. As an Orientation Leader, Gita is excited to meet the incoming TCOM class and help with their transition to medical school. Rachel Whaley is from Montgomery, Texas and is entering her second year at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. Before starting medical school in 2019, she took a gap year and enjoyed counseling at a Christian summer camp, working at a software development company, nannying, and traveling. Rachel is involved in the Christian Medical Association, Pediatrics Club, Intercollegiate Council, and SSP Honor Society. She enjoys being active outside- hiking, running, playing ultimate frisbee, and (flag) football. Serving others is one of her biggest passions, and she often volunteers at local healthcare clinics, tutors high school students, and mentors pre-medical undergraduate students. Rachel looks forward to assisting you in this next step of your career, and she is excited to welcome you to the Health Science Center! Zach grew up in a small town called Payson, Utah where he was raised on a family farm. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 2019. While in undergrad, he worked as a phlebotomist at a plasma donation center and worked as the head inorganic chemistry research assistant over a project involving developing a zinc oxide material to reduce emissions from waste processes. He is now looking forward to starting his 2nd year in medical school this fall. He loves spending time with his wonderful wife and newborn son while also spending time outdoors, playing sports, going to the gym, and trying all the different restaurants in Fort Worth. He looks forward to working with the new students and helping them transition into a fun, exciting, and intimidating phase of their career.

Kumail is from Dallas, Texas and graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Minor in Performing Arts.  He then worked as a Medical Assistant in a private Primary Care clinic for a year before starting the MedSci program.  After graduating from the MedSci program, Kumail entered TCOM’s class of 2023 in July of 2019 and is currently an OMS-II.  Kumail is passionate about children’s health and nutrition with a focus on promoting healthy habits and preventative care, currently thinking about pursuing Pediatrics or Endocrinology (or both!).  He hopes to be able to make an impact on the new generation of children by guiding them and helping them develop healthy relationships with their physicians, families, and, most importantly, themselves. He is excited to welcome all the new students to TCOM and looks forward to meeting everyone and making sure they know just how incredible they are for making this far! Samantha is from a small town in Iowa and graduated from Kansas State University 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Before starting at TCOM, she worked as a clinical research coordinator in Dallas at UT Southwestern for 3 years. Samantha’s passions include doing activities with her Boston Terrier, bike riding, playing the piano, and experimenting with food recipes. Some of her involvement at TCOM includes Co-president of the Pediatrics club and competing in Student Initiative in Medical Simulations organization. Samantha’s strong relationships with fellow classmates and advice from second year students helped her get through this transition and she can’t wait to share that with new students! When Xin first came to America 8 years ago, she was working as a waitress and learning English at the community college. She transferred to UNT and double majored in Biology and Psychology. After she graduated in 2017, she worked as a scribe in the emergency department at Baylor Scott&White Medical Center in Irving. She enjoys kickboxing and watching UFC with friends. She understands the difficulties of starting medical school, so she loves to share her experience and the lessons she learned from the struggles. She is excited about the new journey all the new students about to embark on and looking forward to meeting everyone.

Emma is from The Woodlands, Texas, and is a rising second year at TCOM. Before starting at TCOM, Emma graduated from Texas A&M University (whoop!!) in 2019 with a BS in Biomedical Sciences. Emma is the current co-president of Texas Obstetrics and Gynecology Association of Students, and the Career Development Representative for Luibel College. In her free time Emma enjoys walks with friends, trying new foods, and playing with her miniature dachshund, Winnie. Emma is very excited to welcome the incoming class to TCOM! I grew up in the Dallas Fort Worth area and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. I took one year off before entering medical school. My career goals are to provide cost-effective and high quality care to my patients while showcasing the osteopathic approach. In my free time, I enjoy playing a variety of board games, such as Battlestar Galactica and Concordia.  I look forward to welcoming the upcoming class! I am more than happy to answer any questions or address any concerns. Cassidy Weeks is from Houston, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. Prior to coming to TCOM Cassidy was Chief Scribe of the Baylor Scott and White system in College Station, and involved in several service organizations while completing her undergraduate thesis. At TCOM Cassidy’s passion for working with underserved populations continued through her work as President of Refugee Health Initiative, and as Mission Trip Coordinator for Christian Medical Association. She is also secretary in TCOM’s American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians chapter, as she is currently interested in Primary Care. Finally, Cassidy has the privilege to serve as an ICC Representative as Treasurer of Luibel College. In her free time, Cassidy enjoys being a dog mom to Mocha and Spot, hanging out with friends and family, reading, and practicing with her SIMS team Kick Acidosis. Eric Whittaker is from Flower Mound, Texas and graduated in 2018 from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. Prior to attending TCOM, Eric worked for a year as a medical scribe for ProScribe at several Baylor Scott and White Emergency Centers. Currently Eric is interested in Internal Medicine, Emergency medicine, and PM&R. Eric’s hobbies include running, lifting, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Eric is excited to help the incoming class of 2024 transition into their new medical school journey! I am originally from the United Kingdom, Scotland specifically, and moved to Houston in 2008. I went to Rhodes College in Memphis, TN where I got my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. I moved back to Texas for medical school, coming straight out of undergrad. My hobbies include spending time with family and friends and friends, working out, and playing both board games and video games. On campus I’m heavily involved with SIMS, SOIMA, and ICC. Christine is from Houston, TX and graduated from The University of Chicago in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in public policy with a specialization in public health. Before beginning her medical education at TCOM in 2019, she worked with multiple non-profits, including one abroad in Uganda! She’s passionate about advocacy and public policy, and she hopes to see more physicians involved in both. Her first year of medical school was a great experience filled with new friends and self-discovery, and she hopes it is the same for incoming students. Outside of school, Christine enjoys rock climbing, weight-lifting, and propagating plants! As a Richards ICC representative, she is looking forward to getting to know the new class and guide them through the year.

Ashley was raised in the wonderful city of Fort Worth and was excited to become an osteopathic medical student at the school she always dreamed of attending. Prior to attending UNTHSC, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology from the University of North Texas at Denton. Ashley enjoys many hobbies, which include spending time with her husband, family, and friends, cooking, and biking/hiking in the great outdoors. She is happy to share that she has continued to enjoy these activities while managing the responsibilities of medical school. Ashley is eager to welcome fellow future healthcare providers into the UNTHSC community! Connie is from Garland, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. After graduating, she worked as a scribe at Children’s Medical Center Dallas for a year before attending TCOM. Her field of interests include pediatrics and emergency medicine with focuses on public health and preventative medicine. Her hobbies include running, practicing yoga, finding new places to eat and watching films. She is incredibly excited to welcome the TCOM Class of 2024 and hopes that they will find a home here like she has! Hello! My name is Alexander Nguyen and I am going to be a second-year medical student at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I then went to college at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 2017 with a degree in biology and a certificate in business. Hook em! Afterwards, I was accepted into the Medical Sciences program at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences here at the Health Science Center. After I graduated with my masters in 2018, I utilized the following year to apply to medical school and to travel. My favorite Disney princess is Meg from Hercules and I have a pet beta fish named Bernard. My specialty of interest at the moment is Internal Medicine. Please feel free to ask me anything! Kierstin is originally from the small town of Sanger, Texas, and then moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to attend and play Division-1 soccer at The University of Southern Mississippi. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and minored in Chemistry. Kierstin is entering her second year at UNTHSC Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. While at TCOM she has become involved in the American Association of Women Physicians, Zachary Advisory College, and the Student Osteopathic Medical Association. Currently, the specialty she is most interested in is Obstetrics and Gynecology. Outside of school Kierstin’s hobbies include running, baking, and sleeping. She is excited to welcome all the incoming new TCOM students to Fort Worth and looks forward to meeting the new Class of 2024. Anila is from Frisco, Texas and got her degree in Biology from UT El Paso in 2018. She graduated from the MedSci program before joining TCOM last year. Anila enjoys volunteering and cooking. She is excited to meet the incoming TCOM class and hopes they enjoy TCOM as much as she does! Jonny is from Idaho Falls, Idaho and is entering is 2nd year at TCOM. Prior to attending HSC at Fort Worth, Jonny graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, with a degree in Business Management. Jonny is passionate about the business side of healthcare and understands that financial decisions impact patient care every day. Jonny is the secretary of the Dermatology Interest Group Association (DIGA) and the President of the Exploring Specialties Club (ESC). Jonny’s medical interests range from Rheumatology and Dermatology to Internal Med and Pediatrics. Although he has not yet settled on a specific specialty, he is devoted to helping other students find theirs. When Jonny isn’t flipping through flashcards or practicing Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, he can be found exploring parks and streams with his 2 year old son, watching Disney+ (specifically the Mandalorian) with his 8 month old daughter, or country dancing with his wife. Jonny also enjoys commuter cycling, running, reading books, and serving in his Church.

Ryan grew up in U.S. military communities in Germany & Japan and graduated from Baylor University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry.  After graduation, he worked at an ophthalmology clinic as an ophthalmic assistant before starting the TCOM program at UNTHSC in 2019.  He hopes to ensure that new students find a community willing to find success and safety within.  Ryan’s hobbies include board games, swing dancing, and performing magic tricks.  As new students join the program, he is always happy to extend a helping hand.
