Group Exercise

Group exercise classes bring fun and variety to any workout program. The Office of Health Promotion provides you with an assortment of classes to help you reach your fitness goals. We have five different group fitness schedules each year – Spring, May-mester, Summer, Fall and Winter-mester. You will be notified of changes in the Daily News and OrgSync, but one thing you can be sure of – there will always be classes available for your enjoyment!

Class Descriptions

 

ABC’s – This class combines lower body and core exercises with cardio intervals to torch calories while you tighten and tone your lower body and torso!

Morning S.E.T. (Strength Endurance Training)* – If you’re looking to improve your strength, get more comfortable in the weight room and make changes in your physique, this class is right for you. If you’ve ever considered personal training but it didn’t quite fit into your budget, this class is a great way to reap the benefits of personal training at a much lower cost! Start your day off right with Morning S.E.T. to ignite your metabolism and get the results you want!

Workouts will be held in the weight room, incorporating free weight exercises and cardio intervals to maximize your time in the gym. Class size will be limited to only 8 people so that each participant can receive plenty of attention and feedback from the trainer. The cost for the class is $60 and class times will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-7:15am, June 9th through July 2nd, for a total of 8 workouts.Minimum number of 4 participants must sign up. Should there be fewer registrants, money will berefunded and they will be notified when the next Morning SET class is scheduled.

TurboKick – An action-packed workout that combines a series of punching and kicking combinations to fun music. An intense workout for the participant who wants a challenge.

PiYo – Body weight strength training to the beat of great music. Kick your shoes off and work up a sweat on the mat. This class will challenge your strength, balance and flexibility.

Sculpt – Featuring barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, plyometrics, body weight strength exercises and cardio intervals, this class will improve strength and give you that toned physique you desire! This class is limited to 12 participants and you must present a class pass to instructor at the start of class. Passes can be obtained in person at the front desk up to 15 minutes prior to class start time. One pass per person and passes cannot be picked up for another person.

Workout Roulette – Variety is the spice of life and that is exactly what workout roulette provides: a different format each week! Come on Friday to mix up your workout routine, try different formats and meet all the instructors.

Zumba – Inspired by traditional cumbia, salsa, samba and merengue music, Zumba is a combination of Latin rhythms and red-hot international dance steps. Zumba is Spanish slang for “to move fast and have fun.” The goal is simple: work out, love working out, get hooked and have fun.

During group exercise classes, only participants are to be in the room.

*No one under the age of 16 is allowed in the Founders’ Activity Center under any circumstances (Includes use of outdoor basketball court)*
