Grants

A grant is a type of financial aid based on financial need that the student does not have to repay. At HSC, grant award amounts vary from $500 to $2,000 depending on availability of funds per award year, terms enrolled, and program of study. Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to students with the most need (based on student’s SAI) and may include one of the following:

TPEG Resident or TPEG Non-Resident (Texas Public Education Grant)

  • Limited funds available- awards are first-come, first-served
  • Must have exceptional need
  • Must enroll at least half-time (in a degree-seeking program)
  • Must meet Financial Aid SAP
  • Must be registered for the Selective Service or be exempt from this requirement

HSC Tuition Grant

  • Must be a Texas Resident
  • Limited funds available- awards are first-come, first-served
  • Must have exceptional need
  • Must enroll at least half-time (in a degree-seeking program)
  • Must meet Financial Aid SAP

You are automatically considered for grants when you submit your FAFSA and are admitted to HSC.  Texas residents who are non-U.S. citizens can submit a TASFA.  Funds are limited, so APPLY EARLY.
