Pharmacy Pre-Matriculation Workshop

Registration for the Summer 2017 Workshop is open April 3rd through July 28th!  You can register by clicking here. Registration closes Friday, July 28th @ 5:00 pm.

Payment must be submitted online when you register for the workshop (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, & American Express).

 

Pharmacy Workshop (last two days of orientation week)

This workshop is aimed at helping incoming students review the fundamental knowledge and skills bases needed to perform at the best of your abilities. This workshop begins the morning of August 10th following the last event associated with New Student Orientation. Not only will you have the opportunity to refresh your knowledge in these areas in this workshop, you will have the opportunity to meet new classmates, gain beneficial new knowledge, and be exposed to the curriculum teaching/learning style. The facts and study tips presented will be “high yield” and designed to help you succeed in the classroom.

Focus is on the undergraduate material that is most utilized and applicable to pharmacy coursework such as: fundamentals in mathematics, chemistry, and biochemistry. The workshop will also expose students to the principles covered in the first year pharmacy curriculum. Students who attend the workshop will gain access to session materials provided by workshop instructors as well as additional multimedia, notes and content that will continue to be provided throughout the year. All materials associated with the workshop, including a detailed schedule of topic delivery, all files, and resources will be delivered electronically no later than August 9th.

Want an idea of the first year of professional school? PREP is an online, “at your own pace,” professional development workshop designed to help you plan for a successful experience and a smooth transition into your future role as a practitioner. The acronym PREP stands for four professional skills that are key to your academic success and future career:

  • Planning throughout the professional school program to identify and successfully achieve your goals.
  • Developing resilience and tenacity to thrive through personal and professional changes.
  • Practicing active engagement in acquiring skills necessary to attain your academic and career goals.
  • Attaining high standards of professionalism in the classroom and the clinics.

 

Workshop Details

Parking
Parking is provided in LOT 7 with overflow parking in lots 8 & 14.  Please review the campus map for location of parking. Parking in any other area will result in a ticket or your vehicle being towed.

Schedule
You will receive a detailed schedule of the workshop on the first day.

Attire
Attire is casual, but remember that you are on a professional campus.

Food
Food is not provided during the workshop. There are several options available for food in the immediate area surrounding the campus.

Supplies
You do not need to purchase any supplies for this workshop. We will email links to all presentations the weekend before the workshop begins. It is your responsibility to download the presentations to your computer before the session or print the slides.

Is there a limit to how many students can register for the workshop? If I don’t register right away, will I still get a spot?

Answer:

Registration is a first-come first-served process. The workshop is capped at 160 registrants. Once we reach the registration cap, we will add students to a wait list. Payment and registration must be complete by July 28th at 5 pm. We encourage you to register and pay as soon as you can to secure a place in a workshop.

Does this workshop count for course credit?

Answer:

No. This workshop is designed and taught by current students to help incoming students get ahead.

May I receive a refund if I do not attend the workshop?

Answer:

Due to the limited size of the workshops, refunds will only be granted to those who withdraw their acceptance from UNTHSC and are attending another school. All refund requests must be submitted via e-mail by 5pm on July 14th. Please e-mail your request (including an accurate phone number) to CAP@unthsc.edu.
