Research in our lab spans broad interests in the areas of molecular evolutionary genetics and population genetics applications for studying inter- and intra-specific diversity. These overarching principles are being applied to development and evaluation of typing panels for human identity, historical population studies, and wildlife forensics, as well as in applications addressing health disparities in US populations.  The lab has been an early adopter of technologies, such as mass spectrometry and deep sequencing to address various population genetics and evolutionary biology questions. Several graduate students performing their work in the laboratory come from outside of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Genetics creating a truly interdisciplinary research environment.
