UNTHSC Hazard Mitigation Action Plan

October 23, 2017 • News

The UNTHSC is participating in the Tarrant County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan (HazMAP) update, and therefore creating a UNTHSC specific annex within the Tarrant County HazMAP. The UNTHSC HazMAP annex will assess: the natural hazards, such as tornadoes, that can affect UNTHSC; our vulnerabilities to those hazards; and identify specific actions to minimize or eliminate these vulnerabilities when feasible.

The UNTHSC Hazard Mitigation Action Plan – Planning Team Mission
Through partnerships and careful planning, identify and reduce the risk associated with natural hazards in order to protect the health, safety, quality of life, environment and economy of the UNTHSC.

UNTHSC Stakeholder Involvement
The UNTHSC HazMAP Planning Team wants to share the development process and decision making of the HazMAP with UNTHSC community stakeholders such as students, faculty and staff.

The Environmental Health and Safety Office will update this website throughout the planning process as progress is made to:

  • provide the who, what, where, when, how and why of the HazMAP planning process;
  • announce public meetings where UNTHSC stakeholders can learn more about the plan, ask questions, and provide input; and
  • post surveys to gather feedback from UNTHSC stakeholders.

Upcoming UNTHSC Stakeholder Meetings
The UNTHSC HazMAP Planning Team will present information on the draft Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, request UNTHSC stakeholder input, receive comments, and gather information during the upcoming meetings listed below.

The planning team will provide a continuous loop of attendance opportunities at this public meeting. For example, the UNTHSC HazMAP Planning Team members will present and collect information multiple times, back to back, during this two-hour period so stakeholders may choose from multiple timeslots to attend the public meetings. Please visit this website, and look for announcements in the Daily News for more information. The planning team will provide more information on the available timeslots, and building/room number location further along in the planning process.
