Department of Health and Human Services NIH Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA)(R25) RFA

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation’s biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs.

To this end, this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) encourages the development of innovative educational activities for pre-kindergarten to grade 12 (P-12), pre-service and in-service teachers (Teachers) and students from underserved communities with a focus on Courses for Skills Development, Research Experiences, Mentoring Activities, Curriculum or Methods Development and Outreach. This is a limited submission RFA and as such, the UNTHSC will be allowed 1 submission by the July 9, 2018 deadline.

If you are interested in submitting an application to this RFA, please submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) containing the information requested (# 1-6) below as a .doc or .pdf file attachment to ResDev@unthsc.edu with copies to your Dean/Director by February 16, 2018 at 5pm CT.  The subject line of the email should include “NIH SEPA R25 LOI”.

In the event that more than one UNTHSC investigator would like to submit an application, an internal review process will be necessary to make the final selection. In this case, interested applicants will be notified by March 2, 2018 of the need to prepare a pre-proposal for internal review as well as the format the pre-proposal will take.

Pre-proposals would be due by April 6, 2018 @ 5pm CDT.

The limited submission committee will convene to review the pre-proposals following review guidelines.  The committee will provide a recommendation to the Vice President of Research who makes the final decision regarding the internal competition.

Submission of Final Proposal to Sponsor
The PI selected to apply for a limited submission opportunity has the responsibility to submit the application in a timely manner through the Office of Sponsored Programs.

Should the candidate wish to decline the nomination, they need to do so in writing within 5 business days of selection notification to ResDev@unthsc.edu.
