Keynote Address

Keynote Title: “Incorporating the Arts into Transdisciplinary Collaboration”

 

Sajid A. Surve, DO, FAOCPMR has over 10 years of experience as a Performing Arts Medicine clinician.  He apprenticed under Richard M. Bachrach, DO, FAOASM, the renowned PAM physician in Manhattan, New York, and set up both dance and music medicine clinics during his time on faculty at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Surve joined UNTHSC in 2014 to assume the role of Co-Director for the UNT Texas Center for Performing Arts Health (TCPAH), which has been at the forefront of the study of medical problems in performing artists for 20 years.  The TCPAH is home to the world’s first and only physician fellowship in Performing Arts Medicine, for which Dr. Surve is the Program Director, and also the world’s first and only Ph.D. program in Music with a concentration in Performing Arts Health, for which he part of the core faculty.

Dr. Surve’s research interests include musculoskeletal injury management and prevention in the performing arts population.  As a clinician, he is considered the preeminent performing arts medicine provider for the DFW Metroplex, treating performers of all disciplines and skill levels.  He is also the music medicine provider for the UNT College of Music and dance medicine provider for Texas Ballet Theater.
