Liz Medders

Director of Enrollment and Records & Registrar

Bio

Liz has been employed with the UNT Health Science Center since 2001. She began as an Administrative Assistant and worked her way up through Director of Admissions for the School of Public Health and to her role as the Director of Enrollment and Records & Registrar within the Division of Student Affairs. She oversees the Office of the Registrar that supports and serves students, faculty and staff from the five colleges/schools as well as other programs on campus. Some of the services provided include Veterans education benefits, university catalog, Residency Official, student insurance and immunization requirements, tuition assessment and academic records, enrollment/transcript/diploma requests, grading activities, certification of degree requirements all while ensuring the confidentiality and accuracy of student records. Liz completed her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of North Texas. Strengths: Learner, Responsibility, Context, Relator, Achiever

LaTarra Lewis, MHA

Assistant Director of Enrollment Services and Records

Bio

LaTarra "LT" Lewis earned her A.S. degree in Chemistry from Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. She, later on, completed her Master of Healthcare Administration from Kaplan University and completed courses toward her Master of Business Administration as well. Before joining the Registrar’s Office in November 2014, LaTarra worked in Higher Education in the proprietary sector in which she excelled in many different roles, the latter being a Career Services Advisor. Her daily encounter with students of various backgrounds and socio-economic statuses fueled her desire to help others appreciate education and help them achieve their career goals.Strengths: Relator, Discipline, Responsibility, Consistency, Deliberative

Janice Villarreal

Enrollment Services Specialist

Bio

Janice Villarreal received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Before joining the Office of the Registrar at UNTHSC in 2010, Janice worked in the Office of the Registrar at TAMUCC starting in 2007. She has worked with a variety of student populations, including undergraduates and graduate students. She is one of our School Certifying Officials for our Military Students. Her current role focuses on certifying our Veteran and Hazlewood students and their Dependents, course updates for the catalog, admitting and enrolling students in our Extended Educational programs, degree audits, conferring degrees, printing diplomas and certificates, USMLE and COMLEX board scores, and other projects within the office. She enjoys helping students reach their academic and personal goals. Strengths: Relator, Achiever, Individualization, Harmony, Deliberative

Mayra 1

Mayra Garcia

Enrollment Services Associate

Bio

Mayra Garcia joined UNTHSC in 2012 as part of the Health Information Management team as a Training Coordinator of UNT Health Science clinics. Was responsible for the implementation and support of Nextgen applications.  Worked closely with students, providers, and staff to assist with conversion training and to improve methods applied to health information systems she supported. She is a Nextgen certified professional in Ambulatory Electronic Medical Records, Patient Portal and in Electronic Practice Management systems. In 2017 she joined the Division of Student Affairs in the Office of the Registrar as a liaison and advocate between students, insurance company and physician groups concerning their insurance.Strengths: Focus, Learner, Discipline, Individualization, Significance

Courtney Jones

Enrollment Services Associate

Bio

Courtney Jones graduated with her Associate of Arts Degree from Tarrant County College in 2018. Throughout her college career she interned at a DFW financial firm where she worked closely with maintaining client files and answering office phone calls. She began her Higher Education Career with HSC in the Division of Student and Academic Affairs - Office of the Registrar in 2018. In her current role, she focuses on managing the HSC Catalog, and processing student academic records, and student enrollment requests. Courtney enjoys the opportunity HSC brings to serve others on a daily basis and helping students achieve their greatest goals. Strengths: Achiever, Discipline, Responsibility, Positivity, Developer

Jessica Martinez

Enrollment Services Assistant

Bio

Jessica received her degree in Family Studies from Texas Woman’s University in 2017. Following graduation, she worked for a local DFW charter school network as a Community Engagement and Enrollment Specialist. Her time at a charter school allowed her to work closely with families on enrollment for each new school year. Jessica made the move to higher education recently in November of 2020 by joining the Division of Student Affairs in the Office of the Registrar at UNTHSC. In her current role, she assists with processing student academic records and student enrollment requests. Jessica is delighted to have joined the Office of the Registrar team. She enjoys the ability to engage with students by assisting with their needs. Strengths: Harmony, Connectedness, Input, Intellection, Developer

 

Shannon Gossett

Enrollment Services Assistant

Bio

Shannon Gossett received her Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Texas Christian University. Before joining the Office of the Registrar at UNTHSC in 2020, Shannon worked primarily in the nonprofit world, focusing on community engagement and compliance. She has worked with organizations like the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth, which have allowed her to gain an appreciation for diverse social backgrounds and an interest in giving back to her community. Throughout her career, she’s used her organizational skills and compliance experience to bring over 75 food pantries, grants, and another nonprofit programming to 13 counties in North Texas. In her current role, she fields student and staff questions, processes academic records requests and ad hoc reports, as well as participates in committees devoted to creating a more inclusive HSC. Strengths: Harmony, Input, Maximizer, Learner, Individualization
