Beeson moves into new role, Vice Provost for Academic Partnerships & Initiatives

An Emergency Physician with more than 25 years of interprofessional collaborative practice, Jeff is a recognized leader in integrated healthcare with an emphasis on improving healthcare delivery systems and changing the landscape for population health.

He most recently served as our Chief Medical Officer and Executive Medical Director of the Clinical Practice Group where he was instrumental in improving efficiencies by implementing programs such as Phreesia, an innovative, point-of-service platform to enhance our patients’ experience. He also serves as the Medical Director for Texas Task Force 1, one of 28 FEMA teams specializing in urban search and rescue, disaster recovery, and emergency medicine created to respond to large scale disasters.

As Vice Provost for Academic Partnerships & Initiatives, Jeff will lead a multifaceted approach to cultivate and steward strategic academic initiatives and external partnerships to advance our internal and external engagement and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, thought leaders, and influencers.  He will be instrumental in launching our virtual health pilots as identified on our 2020 Strategic Roadmap supporting our “Make the populations we serve healthier” objective.

He will also work in collaboration with Jessica Rangel, Vice Provost for Academic Innovation to provide leadership as we accelerate our academic innovations from initial ideas all the way through to implementation.  Additionally, Jeff will continue working with first responders and our students to create and implement unique, interprofessional care delivery models.
