Academic Update — August 2020

As a reminder. . . ALL educational activities of the School of Public Health will be conducted remotely through December 2020.

 

Orientation Activities

Join me in welcoming our incoming students!

August 6th from 9-11 am (PA students) and August 12th from 8:30 am–10:30 am (Pharmacy students)

    • Student packets will be distributed in the CBH garage
      • Packets include technology packages, t-shirts, ID badges, and personal protective equipment.
      • Anticipate approximately 30-40 cars per hour entering Darcy Street during this time (the HSC Police Dept will assist with traffic flow.)
    • Basic Life Support sessions held in IREB 2nd floor, 8 am–5 pm (Pharmacy students)
  • August 25-31 (MD students)
    • Basic Life Support sessions held in IREB 379
    • Sessions scheduled 12:30 pm–5:30 pm (except a 7:30 am start time on 8/25)

Peak Campus-Based Learning Days

Following are dates when we anticipate a larger volume of people in our buildings involved with in-person learning activities. These will typically be broken into small group activities that report to rooms at scheduled times:

 The Lewis Library

  • The library will remain closed at this time. Library services will continue to be delivered online and updates regarding its reopening will be posted on the library website.
  • In the interim, additional quiet study space will be available for student use from 8 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday in the following areas:
    • MET 124 (except Thursday, August 13th and Thursday, August 27th)
    • IREB 250 (except Friday, August 14th)
    • EAD 108 and 514

Coursera Learning Management System for UNT System

  • We now can utilize UNT MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) for FREE through December 31, 2020.
  • Provides access to approx. 3,800 non-credit courses that can be used as a great resource for high quality, supplemental content for our HSC online courses.

HSC Student Health Clinic

  • Virtual patient visits are available Monday-Friday

HSC Food Pantry

  • Located in Student Services Bldg
  • Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm
