Cowtown Great American Cleanup on March 22nd 9:30-11am

Documentary Screening of Forks Over Knives on Thursday, April 3, 5:30-7:30pm in the MET 124

  • There will be FREE food (light appetizers) and drinks available (first come, first serve)
  • The film is 96 minutes then there will be Q&A with nutrition experts after the show.
  • To get the points, you must sign up on the sign-in sheet at the event.
  • Learn more about the film.
  • If you would like to attend both showings of Forks Over Knives, you can get 75pts for the first showing and 25pts for the second showing on the 15th.  Therefore, you would get 100pts for both viewings rather than 150pts.

Submit a Photo to the Upcycled/Repurposed Photo Contest

Attend a Fort Worth or any community public meeting

  • We are trying to promote community involvement, so you can attend any type of public meeting.
  • You MUST turn in an agenda or other item to prove attendance.

Recycling Seminar on Tuesday April 22 at 12:15 in EAD 514

  • This seminar will teach you the whys, whats, and where of recycling here at UNTHSC.
  • Bring your own lunch!
  • You MUST sign the sign-in sheet to get points.
  • The seminar will last 30 minutes.

Earth Club’s Kickball Tournament

  • Earth Club is hosting a kickball tournament April 22-April 24.
  • To get points, you must be a player on a team.
  • Contact Javier Piraino or Joseph Salganik for more information.
  • Students and Employees welcome to participate.
  • We will get a list of participants from Earth Club to prove participation.

Sustainable and Health Actions:

Ride Fort Worth Bike Share

  • Get 6 points each day you ride one of the Fort Worth Bike Share bike.
  • Ride up to 5 times for a total of 30 possible points.  For example, if you ride it 3 days, you will get 18 points (3x6pts = 18 points).
  • To learn more about the program or how to ride, see the Fort Worth Bike Share Website or the Transportation Page on the Sustainability Website.  You can also call 817-735-2451 for questions.
  • To prove participation, you must email a picture of yourself on the bike or the receipt of the transaction.

Ride Any Bike or Walk to/from campus

  • Get 4 points each day you ride a bike or walk to campus.
  • Do this up to 5 times for 20 possible points.
  • No proof is required, but please be honest about your actions.

Ride Public Transit to Commute to Campus

  • Get 5 points each day you ride for up to 5 times for a total of 25 possible points.
  • You must turn in your pass with the Think Green Challenge form to get points unless you have an E-pass.  If you have an E-pass, no proof is required but please be honest about your actions.

Ride the Bus to Lunch From UNTHSC

  • Get 15 points per day for up to 2 times for a total of 30 possible points.
  • The #2 Bus comes every 15 minutes along Camp Bowie Blvd. and has multiple stops along 7th Street such as Montgomery Plaza.  The bus picks up across from the CBH or by the McDonalds.  A 2 hour pass is $1.75, and you need to have exact change or get the pass on the GoPass Mobile App for Apple or Android.  Call 817-735-2451 with questions.
  • To provide proof, you need to turn in your ticket with the Think Green Challenge form or take a screenshot of the pass and email it to sustainability@unthsc.edu.

Carpool To/From UNTHSC (with 2 or more people)

  • Carpooling reduces the number of cars on the road therefore preventing air pollution.  Also, it reduces the parking burden on campus.
  • Get 4 points each roundtrip carpool trip to/from campus for up to 5 times for a total of 20 possible points.
  • Two one way trips can equal a round-trip.  For example, if you carpool two times to campus but walk home, that counts as one round-trip and therefore 4 points.
  • No proof is required, but please be honest about your actions.

Walk to Lunch from UNTHSC

  • Get 3 points each day for up to 5 times for a total of 15 points.
  • On campus lunch events or the campus cafes do NOT count for points.
  • No proof is required, but please be honest about your actions.

Attend a class at the Founders Activity Center

  • Any class counts such as group exercise, Boot Camp, personal training, Team Lose It!, etc.
  • Get 5 points for each class for up to 25 possible points.
  • Find out more about the FAC and its classes.
  • To get points, please make sure you scan your badge when you check in at the front desk.  Also, please provide the date(s) that you attended on a separate sheet to be turned in with the Think Green Challenge Form.

Get a Fitness Assessment at the Founders Activity Center

  • This is a free service offered by the FAC that measures body weight, circumference, and BMI.
  • Contact chelsea.barron@unthsc.edu  to schedule an assessment.  The appointment must be scheduled by April 24, but the meeting does not have to be before then.
  • No proof is required as we will confirm participation through the FAC.

Walk one of the UNTHSC Walking Routes

  • Get points for walking one of the walking routes listed on the FAC’s website.
  • See the routes here (both indoor and outdoor).
  • No proof is required, but please be honest.

Meet With a Certified Nutrition Specialist on Campus

  • The consultation meeting is free.
  • Contact kyle.pawlak@unthsc.edu  to schedule an appointment.  The appointment must be scheduled by April 24, but the meeting does not have to be before then.
  • No proof is required as we will confirm participation through the FAC.

Volunteer at OR Manage a plot at the UNTHSC Community Garden

  • If you participated in Build Day on February 15, you may count these points.
  • To volunteer for work needed, please contact sustainability@unthsc.edu  so we can assign a job.
  • If you manage a plot, you may count these points.  If you are not the captain, please email your captain’s name to sustainability@unthsc.edu  so we can confirm.
  • No additional proof is required.

Meatless Monday’s: Each Monday of the Challenge

  • Each Monday of the challenge, eat vegetarian for lunch and/or dinner.
  • Why Meatless Mondays?  Learn more here. 
  • Get 5 points each Monday for up to 4 times for a total of 20 possible points.
  • No proof is required, but please be honest.

Donate to a Charity

  • Donation can be in the form of money, goods, time, etc. and can be to any charity or organization.
  • This action seeks to promote community service and a habit of giving.
  • No proof is required, but please be honest about your actions.

Recycle Ink Cartridges or Toners

  • Recycle ink cartridges or toners by dropping them off at Facilities Management Room 110 or sending them by interoffice mail to FMB 110.

  • Get 5 points for each one up to 2 items for a total of 10 points.
  • Include your name on the box or package to get points.

Recycle Used Batteries

  • Recycled used batteries by putting them in the Recycling 2.0 bins located in the MET by Four Star Cafe or 2nd Floor Library.  You can also send them by interoffice mail to FMB 110.

Get a FREE Drink on Monday’s at Four Star Cafe with Your Sustainability Pledge Bottle

  • To encourage people to consume less materials, we are partnering with Four Star Cafe to offer a FREE drink on Monday’s in April with purchase of an entree.
  • Get 5 points each Monday for up to 3 times for a total of 15 possible points.
  • If you no longer have your water bottle, you may purchase one for $5.  Call 817-735-2451 for more information.

Earth Day Event Participation on April 24:

Get 6 Stamps on Your Earth Day Passport

  • For visiting a booth, you get a stamp on your passport.
  • Get 6 stamps (from different booths) and return to the Information Table at the Earth Day Event.
  • You must return your card to get points.

Sign-up to be an Organ and/or Tissue Donor OR Visit the Table

  • You must either sign-up to be a donor OR you must visit the table to get more information.
  • If you are already a donor, you must still visit the table for more information.
  • You must have the Organ/Tissue Donor Table stamp on your passport to get points.

Turn in Unused or Expired Pharmaceuticals to the UNTHSC Police Department

  • You must turn in the pharmaceuticals to the Police Department located on campus on the day of the event. Learn more specifics.
  • To get points, you must make a mark on the sheet located by the bin on the day of the event.  You will remain completely anonymous.

Go on the UNTHSC Community Garden Tour

  • You must attend the tour to get points.
  • The tours will be sometime between 11-2pm on the day of the event, April 24th.

Volunteer at the Earth Day Event

  • Volunteer at the event by emailing kim.williams@unthsc.edu  with the time you can work and your t-shirt size.
  • You must sign up for a slot by March 27th.
  • You must either be an official volunteer or working a booth to get points.

Vote in the Upcycled/Repurposed Photo Contest

  • The photos will be displayed on the 2nd floor in the MET on the day of the event.
  • To get points, you must fill out a ballot.

Bring a Reusable Water Bottle to Event

  • Our food and drinks are “Zero-waste” meaning that the waste from the food will be diverted from the landfill.
  • This means that we will NOT be providing drink cups.  You must bring your own cup to get a drink.
  • No proof is required for the points, but please be honest about your actions.
