Techstars Physical Health Fort Worth Demo Day to showcase 11 innovative startups

Techstars Physical Health Fort Worth Demo DayThe Techstars Physical Health Fort Worth Demo Day, marking the end of a transformative three-month accelerator program, will feature pitches from innovative, early-stage startup founders on Dec. 11 in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.

The 11 companies have developed cutting-edge health care technologies in this first-of-its-kind accelerator program focused on physical health. The technologies include an electrolyte tracking app, a mobile pain recovery assistant and robotic mobility devices.

The founders are part of the third cohort in a partnership between The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Goff Capital and Techstars.

“We’re excited about the quality of these startups that have called Fort Worth home for the past three months,” said Cameron Cushman, assistant vice president of Student Success and Student Engagement at HSC Next. “They embody the innovation we aim to drive in physical health at HSC, where the whole health of every person is our focus.”

The accelerator is designed to foster breakthrough technologies in rehabilitation, physical therapy, human performance and exercise. Founders will present their company’s solutions and the health challenges they are solving. Mentors, investors and alumni also will attend.

In September, 11 startups were selected from thousands of startup companies to participate in the rigorous 13-week program.

“These startups represent the future of health care, and we are proud to offer them access to our strong network of health providers, hospitals and insurance companies in North Texas and across the country,” said Trey Bowles, managing director of the Techstars program.

In 2022, UNTHSC received $4.8 million from the City of Fort Worth and Tarrant County to launch the accelerator, which has already made equity investments totaling nearly $10 million over three years.

“We’ve worked hard to bring the world’s most innovative health care startups to Fort Worth, and it’s an honor to support these founders,” said Jordan Warnement, program manager for Techstars Physical Health.

Fort Worth is the only Texas city that hosts a Techstars accelerator this year and is the still the only one in the world focused on delivering innovation in physical health.

“Fort Worth continues to establish itself as a hub for entrepreneurship, especially in health care,” Bowles said. “And it is our hope that we will leave a legacy of innovation in physical health that will long outlive the Techstars accelerator.”
