TCOM’s Dr. Nash selected to serve on HRSA’s Federal Advisory Committee
Lisa Nash, DO, MS-HPEd, FAAFP, the interim dean at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth was appointed to serve on the prestigious Federal Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Nash’s appointment to the committee is for three years and she will begin serving in March. She will be one of only two DOs on the committee.
“I am honored to receive this appointment and have the opportunity to represent osteopathic medicine and family medicine on this important committee,” Nash said. “I look forward to working with the members of the committee to provide recommendations that will benefit primary care and physicians across our profession. I’m very grateful to our leadership at UNTHSC for supporting my nomination to this position.”
ACTPCMD consists of up to 14 members appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Members are health professionals who represent the following primary care professions/disciplines: family medicine, general internal medicine, general pediatrics, preventive medicine, physician assistants, general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, public health dentistry and dental hygiene.
The ACTPCMD provides advice and recommendations on policy and program development and other matters of significance to the Secretary of Health and Human Services concerning medicine and dentistry activities under section 747 of the PHS Act, as it existed upon the enactment of Section 749 of the PHS Act in 1998, and is responsible for preparing and submitting an annual report to the Secretary and Congress describing the activities of the Committee, including findings and recommendations made by the Committee concerning activities under section 747 of the PHS Act, as it existed upon the enactment of Section 749 of the PHS Act in 1998.
In addition, the Advisory Committee develops, publishes, and implements performance measures and guidelines for longitudinal evaluations for programs under Part C of Title VII of the PHS Act, as well as recommends appropriation levels for programs under this part.
