TCOM student named 2025 TOMA Student Doctor of the Year

Original 090200e3 Fecb 427d Bb8f 639ed2801fdbSamin Arianpour of The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine has been named the Student Doctor of the Year by the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association. Arianpour, a third-year student at TCOM, was honored during an awards ceremony at TOMA’s MidWinter Conference in Southlake.

Arianpour is the fourth-straight TOMA Student Doctor of the Year from TCOM, following in the footsteps of Quincey Quinn in 2024, Dr. Jennifer Pham in 2023 and Dr. Kendrick Lim in 2022.

“I am truly honored and this recognition is a testament to everyone’s collective effort and support along the way,” Arianpour said.

She is the current Medical Student Government Association president and the TCOM’s Class of 2026 president. Arianpour was named TCOM’s Student Doctor of the Year in November 2024, inducted into the Omega Beta Iota Osteopathic Political Action Honor Society in September 2024 and the TCOM Chapter of the Gold Humanism Society in February 2025.

Arianpour has been a great advocate for not only TCOM students but also osteopathic medicine. She serves on the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents Diversity Committee. She is also a member of COSGP’s Wellness Committee, Legislative Affairs Committee, the General Counsel and a Global Health Liaison.

As MSGA president, Arianpour has authored the constitution and bylaws to found the UNTHSC Student Government Association with students from the other schools on campus. She has also advocated for the revaluation of our mental health resources which directly resulted in the formation of the UNTHSC Mental Health Task Force.

“As medical students, we are uniquely positioned to shape policies, influence change, and ensure that future physician and patient needs are met,” Arianpour said. “Our voices matter, whether at the institutional level—ensuring that students have access to the best possible education and support—or at the legislative level, advocating for policies that protect and enhance patient care.”

She is a current member of the TOMA board of trustees and has been providing student input and encouraging more student involvement in TOMA. Her effort has led to a doubling of the number of TCOM student representatives since last March.

“I am deeply passionate about several areas of health care advocacy, but a few that stand out include health care reform, health care equity and the preservation of the patient-physician relationship,” Arianpour said. “Advocacy is not a single action—it’s a commitment to stand up for what is right and ensure our profession and patients are always at the center of healthcare decisions.”

Arianpour will represent TCOM nationally as she is the nominee for the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine National Student Doctor of the Year. That award will be announced on April 11.
