School of Public Health introduces MPH professional option

The School of Public Health now offers a new generalist Master of Public Health Professional Option program that can be completed entirely through evening courses. Other one-, two- and three-year degree plans are available with day and evening schedules.

This 42-semester credit-hour, interdisciplinary degree provides education and training for professionals in any field who want to strengthen their general knowledge and skills in public health. Students gain knowledge, skills and approaches that emphasize the core functions of public health, including assessing health risks and current levels of disease; developing public health policies; ensuring health improvement through health promotion, disease prevention and health services; and managing health systems and settings. After completing a set of required core courses, students have opportunity to tailor their electives to meet their individual career goals.

Applicants should have three years of work experience in the health professions, an advanced degree (PhD, DO, MD, JD, MSN, MBA, MSW or PA) or be enrolled in a master’s- or doctoral-level program.
