Does hormone therapy improve brain health? Seminar examines options

The effects of hormone replacement therapy on the aging brain and Alzheimer’s disease are hot topics for a one-day seminar and discussions on the "Window of Therapeutic Opportunity for Estrogens and Progestins on Brain Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease." The conference, hosted by the UNT Health Science Center at the Worthington Hotel on June 1, features new updates and reanalysis of the 2002 Women’s Health Initiative Memory Study performed by the National Institutes of Health.

The conference precedes the American Aging Association’s annual meeting on June 2, chaired by UTHSC’s Michael Forster, PhD.Dr. James Simpkins will receive the association’s Harman Research Award, which recognizes a person who has made significant contributions to biomedical aging research.
