For more than 30 years, Michael Jann, PharmD, has collaborated with physicians, scientists, pharmacists and other health care professionals with the goal of improving patient care.

His outstanding achievements and contributions were recently recognized by the American College of Clinical Pharmacology’s Excellence in Achievement Program.

Dr. Jann has made extensive contributions to the organization. He served on the Board of Regents for eight years and as Treasurer on the Executive Commitment for four years, said Vikram Arya, PhD, ACCP President and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy of the UNT System College of Pharmacy.

“As treasurer, Dr. Jann oversaw the accounting of annual expenditures as well as investment accounts and was a meticulous steward of the society’s finances,” he said. “Dr. Jann’s sage counsel is frequently sought by ACCP staff and leadership as the society strives to maintain course and achieve its strategic goals.”

Being a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology has provided the unique opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the entire field of clinical pharmacology, from preclinical drug development to Food and Drug Administration approval, said Dr. Jann, Professor of Pharmacotherapy.

“It is a close-knit organization with a mentoring program for academic and industry persons early in their careers, where everyone works together,” he said.

Dr. Jann has been a member of the ACCP since 1987 and a fellow since 1991. He also served on the editorial board for the society’s flagship publication the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and on the Education, Finance and Honors & Awards Committees.

Dr. Jann said he was surprised by the honor.

“It’s always nice to be recognized by your peers and to know people appreciate what you’ve been doing,” he said.
