TCOM TeamSTEPPS® Essentials Training

Students entering their 3rd year of TCOM participate in TeamSTEPPS Essentials Training during Clinical Skills Week.

Objectives:

1. Review sentinel events in healthcare, the top root causes, and the need for team performance improvement
2. Establish team strategies and tools to implement consistently for increased team performance and patient safety

   • Communication
   • Situation Monitoring
   • Mutual Support
3. Practice team strategies and tools via simulation and reflect on how these strategies and tools improve individual and team performance
