UNT Health Science Center, in collaboration with JPS, TCU, and United Way’s Area Agency on Aging was awarded a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in July 2015. The Center for Geriatrics received HRSA funding to establish a Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) and to develop or enhance programs focused on improving health outcomes for older adults.

The Workforce Enhancement for Healthy Aging and Independent Living (WE HAIL) Program intends to transform clinical training environments for health care professionals and caregivers in order to increase the number of these professionals and caregivers in Tarrant County and the surrounding rural counties.
