UNT Health Institutional and Campus-Based Loans
Institutional loans are loans in which UNT Health Fort Worthis the lender. All institutional loans must be within the student’s Cost of Attendance. Loans are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, depending upon student need and available funding.

Eligibility
- Must be a Texas native and Resident (born and raised in Texas) and/or graduated from a Texas high school
- Must be enrolled full-time
- Must have financial need and accept the full Federal Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Stafford Loan offered for the aid year
- Maximum eligibility is $4,000/year (lifetime limit is $8,000)
Loan Terms
- 0% fixed interest rate
- No origination fees
- Repayment begins 12 months after student ceases to be enrolled full-time
- Student will agree to repay $30 per month for every $1,000 borrowed until the principal has been paid
- NOT eligible for consolidation with Unsubsidized Stafford loans.
Primary Care Loan (PCL) – For TCOM students only

Eligibility Requirements
- For full-time medical students committed to practicing in Primary Care
- Must have financial need (as determined by student, spousal and parental information)
- Funds must be awarded within student’s yearly Cost of Attendance
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd year TCOM students are eligible for awards up to $10,000. 4th year TCOM students are eligible for awards up to $20,000
- Awarded first come, first served to eligible students until funding is exhausted
Loan Terms
- 5% fixed interest rate if in compliance with promise to practice in Primary Care
- No origination fees
- 10-year repayment beginning 12 months after student graduates or drops below half-time
- Interest does not begin to accrue until 12-month grace period has ended
- NOT eligible for consolidation with Unsubsidized Stafford loans
Application Process
- Complete the UNT Health Pre-Application for Primary Care Loan and submit to the Financial Aid Office
- The Financial Aid Office will determine eligibility based on student and parental need as determined by the required documents
- Additional paperwork will be required if you are eligible
