“Studies of human autonomic neural control: a condensed retrospective”
From molecular interactions to systemic integration, research in human physiology is an altruistic pursuit. This year marks my 30th investigating autonomic oscillations and associations with various interventions and outcomes. My journey has not been systematic, but rather sporadic. I have used standard instrumentation to ask questions that seem unrelated but often have a common theme. In my talk I will highlight some selected memorable studies and experiences, some successes and failures, and attempt to address how understanding interactions among coupled oscillators inform mechanisms of compensation to external stressors.
