Watch for letter with annual benefits enrollment information

Annual enrollment for HealthSelect of Texas, the plan administered by United Healthcare for ERS, will be July 10-24.

Enrolled members will receive a letter via the U.S. Postal Service from the Employee Retirement System of Texas (ERS) in late June or early July with an explanation of existing benefits and enrollment instructions. United Healthcare provides ERS-administered health insurance to our system.

Long-term care insurance is available through CNA national insurance, rather than ERS. Long term care insurance helps benefits-eligible participants provide for assistance when a serious illness or disability renders them unable, physically or cognitively, to care for themselves for a lengthy period of time.

Long term care insurance is available to benefits-eligible employees, spouses, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents, or grandparents-in-law. Employees may enroll at any time and premiums for employee and spouse may be paid through payroll deduction. All others must be invoiced separately.

Enrollees in HealthSelect also have access to wellness assistance. These services, usually phone calls, are from nurses and clinicians who do not sell products, but provide information about staying healthy.

Enrolled employees may be contacted about these topics:

Post-Hospitalization Care – After an inpatient hospital stay, members may be contacted to be sure care instructions, medication, durable medical equipment and other services are available.
Disease Management – Nurses may contact enrolled employees with diabetes or coronary artery disease, for examples, to direct them to clinical and educational resources.
Healthy Pregnancy – Nurses assist employees receiving pre-natal care and pregnancy health management.
Wellness Coaching – Clinicians offer support and guidance for health and wellness goals. (A personal wellness assessment tool is available at myuhc.com.)

Enrolled HealthSelect members may log in or register to view insurance benefits, wellness programs and medical care.
