Topics will include protection of creative, scholarly and technical works, software IP, ?fair use? and educational use of copyrighted materials. Library management professionals, faculty and graduate students should attend.

10:30 a.m. ?Patentable Subject Matter: Medical Devices, Biomarkers & Diagnostics ?

Topics will include recent court decisions and their impact on patentable subject matter and IP relating to medical devices, biomarkers, personalized medicine and diagnostics. Research faculty, post doctoral fellows and graduate students should attend.

Speaker: Christopher Eisenschenk, Ph.D., Registered Patent Attorney

Dr. Eisenschenk graduated from the University of Florida in Microbiology and Cell Science and obtained a law degree from the University of Baltimore. He was an Examiner and Supervisory Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and is registered to practice before the USPTO. Dr. Eisenschenk is a partner in the firm Saliwanchik, Lloyd & Eisenschenk and practices IP law in technology areas including cell biology, immunology, infectious disease, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals/medicinal chemistry.
