Upcoming Policy Changes to Strengthen HSC

Policies and procedures are a dynamic body of shared standards used to strengthen and support HSC’s vision and ultimate success. Having the necessary policies and procedures in place—as well as a system to manage adherence to those policies—help us accomplish our strategic vision while protecting our students and employees and the reputation of the institution.

Building on the momentum from our Code of Culture: Our Values Action and to incorporate accountability, fairness and transparency in making better decisions, HSC began an initiative in February, 2019 to review all HSC policies to align better with our current operations, laws and regulations. Working with our vendor partner, Rethink Compliance, over 400 documents were identified and reviewed to formulate best practice within our policies under One University.

With great team work and collaboration from our subject matter specialist, the HSC Institutional Policy Committee and the UNT System Office of the General Counsel, we are proud to share our policies were reviewed for efficiency and carefully consolidated to just over 80 institutional policies.

As we move closer to implementing these changes, we wanted to give you some key things to note as we prepare to update Policy Tech in the coming months:

1. Refresher on how to use PolicyTech and navigate the revised/updated policies
2. Q&A sessions will be provided by the Compliance & Integrity Team and other Policy Owners in order to educate and spread awareness on changes ahead.
3. Education on effective policies and procedures will be hosted on various dates and at the request of your department
4. Continuous updates and communication on policy changes will be provided to all HSC community members.

We thank you in advance for your support.
