UNTHSC Grand Rounds: Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems Use Among Youth

Session Speaker: Keisha Leatherman

Keisha has worked for Tarrant County Public Health for over 16 years. She spent the first 11 years as a Health Educator providing outreach and Health Education programs in the community. In 2003 she received her Masters of Science in Health Studies from Texas Woman’s University and in 2004 she attained professional honors of becoming a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). She has vast experience with tobacco education and cessation, having taught the Texas Youth Tobacco Awareness Program since 2002. The past 5 years she has served as Tarrant County Public Health’s Tobacco Cessation Program Supervisor overseeing the implementation and evaluation of the Live Tobacco Free Program in the Chronic Disease Prevention division.

-Identify the components and design of electronic cigarettes and vaping devices
-Discuss current literature of risks/benefits associated with use, and public health concerns
-Review local and national data trends for adolescents
