UNT System’s New Core Values

From the HSC Office of the President

Dear HSC Faculty, Staff and Students,

By now, you have read the chancellor’s email about the UNT System’s new core values and behaviors. What this means for HSC is something a little different than the other UNT System universities.

We adopted our original HSC values in 2014 after surveying the HSC community, holding focus groups and forming a values blueprint team that defined our values and associated behaviors built on a foundation of trust. These values promoted a work environment where we can all be comfortable and a culture that allows us to best achieve the university’s mission, vision and purpose.

The values-driven culture at HSC is just one of the reasons I was so excited when I came here in 2020. I could feel the energy, and I could see the difference that it made. Imagine what this values-driven culture will be able to do across the UNT System. I look forward to continuing on the values journey as it further solidifies us as one UNT System rather than a collection of universities.

Adopting our new UNT System values does not mean that you must forget about your own personal values or even the culture HSC has built. In fact, embracing our new values will allow HSC to build a richer experience for all our team members.

We are stronger as one team. We are better able to serve our students, our team members, our vendors and our community. I hope you are as excited as I am to continue this values journey.

We will be sending out details soon about our campus Meet the Values event from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 30 in MET 109-111. Until then, please become familiar with the new UNT System values. If you have questions, please feel free to contact values@untsystem.edu.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sylvia Trent-Adams
President
