Please be aware that employee contribution rates for the Teacher Retirement System are increasing from 7.7% to 8.0% (both pretax), according to changes made by the Texas Legislature in 2019. The change will impact pay received on or after September 1, 2021.
The next increase is set for Sept. 1, 2023, when contributions will increase to 8.25%.
The contributions fund the TRS pension and do not determine how much your retirement income will be.
