Today: Ricco Ethics Essay awards ceremony

Winners of the sixth annual Ricco Ethics Essay competition were announced last week and will be honored at an Awards Assembly on Wednesday, April 24, at noon in EAD 406.

Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend.

Three $1,000 awards will be presented to the students who wrote the winning essays, with one winner chosen from TCOM, School of Health Professions, and System College of Pharmacy.

The awards are funded through an endowment established by Nicholas and Anna Ricco of Carrollton. The Riccos have funded similar awards at UNT-Denton and at UNT-Dallas as a means of encouraging reflection and discussion around the role that personal ethics play in decision-making on both a professional and personal level.

Winners of the 2019 Essay Competition are:

Jordyn Mayerhofer, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine

Rebecca Leissner, School of Health Professions

Nariman Panahi, UNT System College of Pharmacy

Moderating the Assembly will be Dr. Roy Martin, who will provide opening comments and a short history of the competition and the intent of the Riccos in establishing the awards. The three winners will then read their winning essays.

Those attending will be provided a pizza lunch on exit from EAD 406.

Congratulations to our 2019 winners, and thank you to Nicholas and Anna Ricco for their investment that ensures continued focus on the role of ethics in the health professions.
