The Summerfield G. Roberts Foundation provides equal financial assistance in three areas: support of the study, teaching, research, and dissemination of Texas history; scholarships and grants to students and physicians conducting medical research; and scholarships for Texas residents for graduate work in business, commerce, finance, and oil and gas.
Grant Request Procedures
- The proposal should be within the purposes of the Foundation.
- The proposal should be summarized in a letter of no more than two pages, in addition to the required attachments.
- The proposal should describe the project briefly, including:
- a list of key personnel
- the amount of time required to complete the project
- a budget
- a plan whereby the project will be completed
If the funding request is not for the entire amount needed for the project, a plan should be included to describe how the project would be completed.
- The Foundation will not generally fund operating expenses.
- The proposal should be accompanied by:
- a copy of the letter from the Internal Revenue Service granting the requesting organization 501(c)(3) status
- a brief history of the sponsoring organization
- a statement of goals and purposes of the organization
- a list of the board of trustees and officers of the organization
- the most recent audited financial statement, if any.
- Deadline for submitting a proposal is December 1. Proposals are reviewed annually at the February meeting of the Co-Trustees.
- The Foundation will require a final report and possibly may request interim reports.
