The Holiday Season: A Time of Reflection

From the UNT System Office of the Chancellor

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students of the UNT System:

Reflecting on my first year as Chancellor, I am proud of all we have accomplished. Especially several items foundational to our success, most recently and notably, the creation of our five values and associated behaviors, which we will use as our guideposts to transform our culture.

I am continuously impressed and grateful for the spirit of collaboration I find evident in our students, faculty and staff. Your determination and hard work applied to our shared mission is a daily reminder of our “why.” It also underscores what sets us apart and makes the UNT System a wonderful place to learn, work and grow. Spending the last few weeks attending events like the Toys for Tots at HSC, distributing food to the underserved in Dallas, and attending commencement ceremonies in Denton and Dallas reconfirmed all this and more.

Looking ahead to the new year and new goals – the opportunities are plentiful. I am excited about our future and what lies ahead for all of us. While this time of year is traditionally an extremely hectic time of year, I encourage each of you to set aside time to reflect upon your personal goals for next year while remembering the successes you achieved this past year.

Finally, as we approach the holidays, I hope all of you can spend quality time with those who mean the most to you. Take time to enjoy the meaning of the holiday season. Make time to reflect on what and who are most important to you and make time to also rest and recharge.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones.

With gratitude,

Dr. Michael R. Williams
Chancellor
