Texas Minority Health, Education, Research and Outreach (Texas MiHERO): PhD Scholars Program
The Institute for Health Disparities (IHD) invites applications from the graduate students for the Texas MiHERO PhD Scholars program supported through the John Lewis National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) Research Endowment.
Program Description:
Graduate students admitted in to PhD programs in biomedical sciences (SBS), public health (SPH), pharmacy (SCOP) and dual (DO/PhD) degree in medicine (TCOM) will be selected from the students meeting the eligibility criteria. Under this MiHERO scholars’ program, 2 new students may be recruited this year. Along with research and required course work, MiHERO PhD scholars will have the opportunity to participate in workshops/training programs on inter-professional education, skills for success, health disparities and research presentations and publications.
Eligibility:
Good standing PhD or DO/PhD students in the programs outlined in the program description.
Should have completed at least one year in their program.
Women and individuals from groups underrepresented in health professional programs (racial/ethnic groups, disabilities, disadvantaged backgrounds) are encouraged to apply.
Application Process:
Applicants will be evaluated based on the information furnished in the application.
Application received by March 11, 2024 will be considered.
Program committee reviews the applications and the selected candidates will be notified in April 2024
