Test of the emergency notification system: 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15

HSC recently installed software to enhance its ability to issue emergency notifications in a timely and effective manner. A full test of the emergency notification system will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.

Several things to expect during the test:
• The wall-mounted Alertus emergency beacons across campus will activate for two minutes with flashing lights and sirens.
• You will receive a test “RED ALERT” emergency notification email, text message and phone call. The text message and email will include instruction on how to acknowledge receipt of the message.
• An emergency notification test message will appear on HSC Facebook and Twitter pages.
• An emergency notification test message will scroll across your computer screen. This is a new feature of HSC’s emergency alert system.

Emergency notifications are a critical component of HSC’s safety protocols. Also, an Emergency Notification process is a federal mandate required under The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or Clery Act, signed in 1990.

HSC will test the emergency notification system twice a year.

More information about HSC safety protocols and the emergency notification system can be found on the Environmental Health and Safety Office website.

Thank you.
